This article would guide you through creating a new assignment as well reviewing them once the learners submit them.
Assigning learners tasks is a great way to assess their grasp on a certain topic or a chapter. You can assign them tasks in the various formats available.
Steps to Create an Assignment:
Go to Dashboard > CONTENT > Courses. Open the Course Builder of your specified course.
Now, click on "Create New Item" then select "Assignment".
After you click on "Assignment", fill in the title of the New Assignment, then Submit.
You will be redirected to a page where you have to fill in the assignment details.
Title- This contains the title of the assignment.
Tags- You can mention the topics or courses related to the assignment in Tags, separated by a comma.
Instructions- You can use this space to give a set of direction to the learners before doing the assignment.
Availability Settings: Choose "Always available" if you want to keep it available throughout the validity of the course.
However, to customise its validity, choose the validity period by setting the beginning & ending dates.
Email Notification on Submission: You can get set up email notifications upon assignment submissions to any email you choose.
To enable this feature, click on "Yes". Now, keep the E-mail column blank if you want the super admin or course instructor to be notified.
However, if you want to enter an additional email, just fill in the email id where you want to send notifications of learners' assignment.
Upload Template- You can upload the answer template here which users will use to complete the assignment. Please note that this step is optional.
Confirmation Message- This is a customized message which the learners would get after submitting their assignment.
After filling the above information, click "Save".
Steps to Review an Assignment:
In your Dashboard, click on the CONTENT, then go to "Assignments".
Search Assignment Title
In the box, you can search the name of the assignment which you want to review. Type the assignment name then click on search, the available result will follow.
Available for Reviews
Besides the individual assignments, there are respective numbers given on "available for review". These numbers show the number of students who have submitted that particular assignment.
Once the learner submits an assignment, it automatically goes into pending for review.
Click on the assigned number under "Available for Reviews".
You will be redirected to the Assignment Submissions Manager. Assignment Submissions Manager is the tab where all the details of that particular assignment including the students' info are shown here.
This shows the name of the learner who has submitted the assignment.
This shows the E-mail of the learner who has submitted the assignment.
This shows the status of the learner's assignment.
This the actual Assignment which is sent by the learner in the form of a file.
Click on the file, it will automatically open in a new tab.
After going through the assignment you can choose to approve or reject the assignment or send a customized text.
This shows the date on which the learner has submitted the assignment.
To approve the assignment click on the "✓" icon placed under "Actions".
To reject the assignment click on the "X" icon placed under "Actions".
To send a customized message to the learner, click on the "message" icon placed under "Actions".
Every time you take an action for any particular assignment, that learner will get a mail about it instantly.
Placed just beside the individual assignments, there are respective numbers given on "Reviewed". These numbers show the number of learners whose assignments have already been reviewed.
If you wish to change the action taken on that particular assignment, then you can do it under "Actions".
Placed just beside the individual assignments, there are respective numbers given on "Rejected". These numbers show the number of learners whose assignments have already been reviewed & rejected.
If you wish to change the action taken on that particular assignment, or approve them after rejecting, then you can do it under "Actions".
